Leisure Activities

Nature Walks
Mahé, the main island, is still an unknown paradise for walkers in search of new surprises. Praslin, La Digue and Silhouette and the other islands nearby also have well-marked nature trails that would introduce hikers to the natural treasures on the island. Whether hiking in the forests high in the mountains or strolling along the palm-fringed beaches, you are sure to find that Seychelles is a well-preserved sanctuary for a wide variety of exotic tropical flora and fauna. You could take guided walks along scenic routes to see the rare scops owl, insectivorous pitcher plant and the jellyfish tree.

Snorkeling and Diving
The islands offer a wealth of snorkeling and diving opportunities and you can indulge in these activities all year round in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The Inner Islands, which are the remains of a submerged mountain range, rest on a shallow plateau that’s teeming with marine life. To the south, are the Outer Islands, which are predominantly coralline and sand-cays. These unexplored waters offer the diver the thrill of venturing where none have gone before.

Sailing
The pristine waters of Seychelles’ 115 sparkling isles invite sailors to navigate the sea around Seychelles at leisure. International and local charter companies also offer year-round sailing opportunities with a wide selection of specialized craft.

Fishing
Seychelles offers some of the finest fishing opportunities in the world. The abundance of tuna, dorado, rainbow-runner, bonito and trophies such as sailfish and marlin make for a memorable game-fishing experience for the seasoned fisherman and the novice alike. The Outer Islands are the hub of salt-water fly-fishing, while blue-water fly-fishing is also becoming increasingly popular.
