Nature’s Bounty
Relatively untouched by the ravages of time, the Seychelles archipelago consists of 115 islands, some of which are the only mid-ocean granitic islands in the world. There are also coral islands, cays and atolls scattered over an area of more than 1,400,000 sq.km of the Indian Ocean.

An astonishing variety of flora and fauna can be found in the Seychelles. Besides the many magnificent fish and underwater life of the Indian Ocean, there are also the giant land tortoises, sea turtles, many exotic species of birds and an abundance of tropical fruits, plants and rare varieties of trees. It is the home of the famous "coco de mer", or double coconut. The Seychelles has over 80 endemic plants and a dozen endemic birds. A large number of nature reserves and marine parks have been created by the Government throughout the islands. It is a fitting tribute to the islands’ concern for the environment that both the World Heritage Sites in Seychelles: the Vallée de Mai and Aldabra - are protected Special Nature Reserves.

The islands enjoy warm humid tropical weather with the temperatures ranging from 24-32° C. The sea is generally calm and the islands do not experience any extremities in climate.
